Disappointed with Dr. Ravi Gulati’s care

I have been seeing Dr. Gulati for almost a year, and unfortunately, I have been disappointed with the level of care I have received. From the very beginning, I didn’t feel listened to. At first, I thought perhaps this was just the usual way of working here (as I am a foreigner).

During my first consultation, I expected to be asked about my medical history, previous conditions, and other background information so that he could have a full picture before deciding on a treatment plan. However, that didn’t happen.

I had to schedule multiple appointments because only two issues could be discussed per visit. Throughout all my visits, not once has the doctor physically examined me — even on occasions when I had a sore throat or a severe cough. He never stood up to check whether I had an infection or to listen to my lungs, even though I have told him that I have asthma.

On one occasion, he wrote in a medical note that I was overweight and that he had already given me a diet plan — even though he has never weighed or measured me, and he never provided any diet. I don’t know how he reached that conclusion, as I maintain a healthy weight (which I verify at home).

I also experienced significant hair loss, which I mentioned to him, but he did not take it seriously. Eventually, I had to go to a private doctor, where the attention and service far exceeded my expectations, and I finally received a proper diagnosis.

I am not sure if the way I was treated has to do with being a foreigner, but it has been a difficult experience seeking answers and treatment on my own through private doctors, as I have not received support or proper guidance from him.
